The Religious Education of Children

The Religious Education Committee for children is under the leadership of our Director of Religious Education.

1. Religious education is provided for children and teens is grades PK through Twelve. Sessions for PK through Eight takes place on Sundays. High School teens meet on Sunday.

2. Rite of Christian Initiation of Children is the process by which children, ages five or older who have never been baptized are invited into Church. Along with their families and with the assistance of catechists they are prepared for the sacraments. Children who are at least seven years of age are fully initiated with the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

3. The Liturgy of the Word for Children is celebrated on Sundays during Mass, alternating with religious education classes. We have a time for children to hear the Word of God on their own level, reflect on it and share in an age-related activity. Children leave the chapel. They later return to the larger congregation for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
